Yvonne Song Creates Visual Identities Worldwide

Yiwen Song, professionally known as Yvonne Song, is a New York-based Creative Director whose work spans concept development, brand strategy, photography, filmmaking, production, and cultural research. Operating across music, fashion, editorial, and experiential culture, Song creates multidisciplinary campaigns and immersive experiences for internationally recognized artists, brands, and creative communities.
At the core of Song’s practice is an integrated approach that brings together research, artistic direction, production, and visual media into a single creative framework. Rather than separating photography, film, and live experiences into individual disciplines, she combines them to build projects that remain cohesive from initial concept through final execution. This process allows her to shape authentic narratives that translate seamlessly across editorial, digital, and live platforms.
Her ability to bridge multiple creative disciplines has made Song a sought-after collaborator for artists and brands looking to establish a consistent visual presence. By overseeing both the conceptual and production aspects of a project, she ensures every element contributes to a unified artistic identity, regardless of the medium.
One of Song’s most notable collaborations has been with Grammy-nominated recording artist Miguel. As part of his broader creative team, she contributed to the visual development surrounding editorial campaigns, live performances, and promotional content. Her work included pre-album studio sessions, Miguel’s Washington Square Park pop-up performance, appearances at Radio City Music Hall, a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon alongside J-Hope for the release of “Sweet Dreams,” and performances during Philadelphia’s Roots Picnic Festival. Together, these projects helped establish a recognizable visual language throughout Miguel’s album campaign and public appearances.
Her portfolio also includes collaborations with artists seeking a distinctive visual approach. Rap artist JT selected Song to photograph her Pride performance and exclusive pop-up activations, while internationally acclaimed artist Amaarae brought her onto the production of the “Angles In Tibet” music video to capture official behind-the-scenes photography and on-set imagery, with her work later featured through VEVO.
In addition to artist campaigns, Song has contributed to the long-term branding of major music projects. She produced the photography for Sparrow & Barbossa’s cover campaign, creating imagery used throughout the duo’s international touring cycle across 2024 and 2025, with placements spanning artist press materials, festival promotions, Scorpios Mykonos, Electronic Groove, and other international music outlets. She also created the cover artwork for electronic music producer Westend’s 2026 single, “The Ceiling,” helping define the release’s visual presentation.
Her international body of work continues to grow through collaborations with globally recognized artists including Jackson Wang, GALI, and Santa. Song contributed photography and on-set creative support for Jackson Wang’s “Pretty Please” production while also collaborating with The Berrics on the documentary Skateboarding in China Amidst a Global Pandemic: Diplomatic Immunity. These projects further demonstrate her ability to tell stories that resonate across cultures, industries, and audiences.
Beyond commissioned work, Song regularly develops original concepts of her own. In Shanghai, she independently conceived, directed, and produced a 7-Eleven-inspired music and cultural activation that transformed an everyday retail space into an immersive live experience. From the earliest planning stages through production and final execution, she led every aspect of the project, demonstrating her ability to transform unconventional ideas into engaging public experiences. The activation generated more than 2,000 engagements on RED (Xiaohongshu), reflecting strong audience reception within one of China’s leading lifestyle communities.
Storytelling also remains central to Song’s independent filmmaking. Her documentary I Dance Because I Am Lost received recognition at the Lift-Off Film Festival, underscoring her continued exploration of identity, creativity, and human connection through documentary cinema.
Alongside her work behind the camera, Song maintains an active career as a DJ, providing her with firsthand experience of artist branding, audience interaction, and live event production. This perspective informs the way she approaches creative projects, allowing her to design visuals that reflect both the performer’s intentions and the audience’s experience. Her performances have taken her to New York, Paris, Shanghai, and the Philippines, including recurring appearances at Silencio Paris during Fashion Week throughout 2024 and 2025, the Lil Tecca “PLAN A” album release celebration, events surrounding Rolling Loud, Public Artspace’s New York Tech Week opening alongside Ian Asher, and venues including the Chocolate Factory and 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge.
Song has also played an important role in documenting internationally recognized music events. At Boiler Room Shanghai, she led the event’s visual coverage, directing photography for performances by Cocoonics, Cola Ren, DJ EBP, GOGA, Mau Mau, and Takaaki Itoh. Her work contributed to preserving and communicating the atmosphere of one of electronic music’s most influential global platforms.
